A butterfly valve is a type of flow control valve that regulates the flow of fluid through a pipe using a disk that rotates on a shaft. The disk is typically made of metal or plastic and is mounted in the center of the pipe. As the disk is turned, it can be used to either open or close the flow of fluid through the pipe.
In the fully open position, the butterfly rotor sits perpendicular to the flow of fluid, allowing the maximum amount of fluid to pass through the pipe.
